…think on these things

Deuteronomy 31:6

“So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

Who are you to have anything important to say?  How could you possibly help anyone?  You remember who you use to be right?  Has it escaped your memory that you lost your patience yesterday with the kids?  Didn’t you just have an argument with your husband?  I know you… you raise your voice sometimes and if you really want to be honest… you even curse in anger sometimes.  You haven’t given that part over to God yet and you call yourself a witness to Him?  Your family and friendships aren’t perfect and You certainly are NOT perfect, so why would anyone listen to you?  What could you possibly have to say that anyone would listen to?

These are the lies that the enemy is really good at trying to make us believe.  He wants nothing more than to keep us quiet about what God is doing in our lives.  Those days when we struggle and look like hypocrites, the enemy wants to label us and convince us that’s who we really are.  He wants you and I to believe we’re unforgivable and tries to steal our joy and confidence in the Lord.

Thankfully, he doesn’t have the final say.  God is renewing us even on our broken days… He is changing us in His timing, in His way, for His glory all through our ups and downs.  No wonder it says this in Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.”  If we choose to think about negativity and Satan’s lies and allow that to define who we are, the outcome can be depression, unhealthy relationships, and a stagnant relationship with God.

Today I will choose to listen God’s word and think on these things because He is stronger and bigger than my failures.

  1. My desire is to listen to that every day, but to be honest… I’m not always successful, but I trust God to help me improve because he’s brought me along way already. Thank you for that reminder. Blessings to you as well.
